My artist manifesto is ‘士先器识而后文艺’If a person wants to have a great future, he should first cultivate his knowledge and has a good moral character, then his literary ability and skill. It comes from the book of the Old Tang Dynasty, biography of Lilizhuan, volume one hundred and forty, written by Zhao Ying in the later Jin Dynasty.

It is emphasized here that people should first cultivate their mind, knowledge, and their basic beliefs and values of society and life before they can learn art. It is an important part of Chinese cultural tradition to cultivate people's fine character and ethics.
